After the Sewol —Assistant Camera
This documentary covers the Sewol tragedy that occurred in South Korea and was featured in an Asian Boss video. It was directed by my professor, Neil P. George, who taught documentary filmmaking while I was a student in Korea. I had the unique opportunity to travel the country with him as the assistant cameraperson for scenes in this film as well as a follow-up film titled Crossroads.
Mojave Beat — Director & Producer
This is a documentary that I directed and produced about an indie-pop band from my hometown of Victorville, California. If you haven’t heard of this place, that may be for the best. The film delves into the ways in which art and creative scenes pop up in places that frankly don’t have much going on.
The Bombpops: Double Arrows Down Music Video— Production Assistant
This is a music video by the pop-punk band The Bombpops, which I was a production assistant for. Since this was a somewhat low budget shoot, I did things like set up lighting, swap camera lenses, and grab Popeye’s chicken sandwiches for everyone on-set.
REX — Assistant Cinematographer
A short film directed by a good friend of mine, Carlos Cortes. I was part of the camera crew for this one. Fun Fact— it was filmed in my apartment!
Disconnected — Assistant Director
Another short film directed by my friend Carlos. For this one, I was the assistant director, so I was in charge of scheduling, staying on-schedule, and directing extras. It was the first film set that I was ever a part of!
Titan TV — Producer & Camera Operator
At Titan TV, which is California State University, Fullerton’s student-run news station, I was a producer and camera operator for the live music segment Titan Radio Live! where I would reach out to local bands and musicians to schedule a performance in our studio. On filming days, I was part of a team of camera operators.
My Youtube Videos — Everything
Here are 2 examples of some of my longer “video essay” style Youtube videos. I use the term video essay very generously here because if you actually watch these videos you’ll realize that there is little that could count as an essay here. Rather, these feel a bit more like a socially awkward nerd’s first attempt at a standup special (when’s the last time you’ve heard a comedian talking about Sonic the Hedgehog?). Anyway, all writing, filming, and editing was done by me.
